Just a couple of miles from the North Coast 500, you'll find our idyllic Shepherd's Hut, Bothan a' Bhuachaille. Munlochy is seven miles north of the Highland capital city of Inverness. Completed in the spring of 2025, Bothan a' Bhuachaille offers you brand new, high quality accommodation with 'rustic luxury' at the heart of your stay.
Our self-contained holiday let is set in a large private garden, surrounded by trees and wildlife. This quiet corner of the village offers peace and tranquility and yet is just a two minute walk from local amenities like bus services, a grocery shop, 'The Allangrange' gastro pub, and local woodland walks.
Bothan a' Bhuachaille accommodates two people. We may be able to accommodate one well-behaved dog. There is parking for two cars. Raised decking sits alongside the hut with seating for al fresco dining and enjoying the views. A wood stove guarantees a cosy evening. (Alternative heating is also available.) A smart TV and WIFI are provided. There are two single beds, lounge seating, a well-equipped kitchen-dining space, and the bathroom has a large electric shower. Luxury towels and bedding are provided to complete your restful and relaxing stay.

By Car: From the South: From the Kessock Bridge (A9) drive north for about 2 miles then take the slipway heading right onto the B9161, signposted for Munlochy and Cromarty. Continue to Munlochy (3 miles). After 'The Allangrange' hotel and pub, turn left up Station Brae. Take the second left turning into Forestry Houses, just a few metres up Station Brae. Here you will see Bothan a' Bhuachaille at the top of the road. Park right beside the Hut.
From the North: At the Tore roundabout take the A832 exit signed for Fortrose and Cromarty. Continue for 2.8 miles. At the crossroads turn right into Munlochy. Continue for 0.3 miles down into the village. Take care to look left at the Give Way sign then immediately turn right into Forestry Houses. Here you will see Bothan a' Bhuachaille at the top of the road. Park right beside the Hut.
By Bus: From Inverness Bus Station take the Number 26 bus from Stance 4. Get off in the village of Munlochy, shortly after 'The Allangrange' Hotel. Walk down from the bus stop to Station Brae. Turn right up Station Brae. Take the second left turning into Forestry Houses, just a few metres up Station Brae. Here you will see Bothan a' Bhuachaille at the top of the road. The walk from the bus stop is uphill but is less than 250 metres on tarmac road.
On Foot: If you're walking the John O' Groats Trail you will walk into Munlochy while on the trail. After 'The Allangrange' hotel, turn left up Station Brae. Take the second left turning into Forestry Houses, just a few metres up Station Brae. Here you will see Bothan a' Bhuachaille at the top of the road. Bothan a' Bhuachaille is less than 400 metres from the JOG Trail.
